Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli, the longtime director of athletic medicine at Penn State and a renowned orthopedic surgeon, has died at age 68, leaving a legacy of extraordinary care for student-athletes and pioneering work in injury treatment. Throughout his 30-year tenure at the university, he was recognized for prioritizing athlete well-being, most notably aiding in the miraculous recovery of football player Adam Taliaferro from a serious spinal cord injury.  Against all odds, Taliaferro walked again less than a year later.  Dr. Sebastianelli is survived by his wife Michele, and his children Alyssa and Geoff.
