Woman Charged After Leaving Her Newborn Baby In A Field

A Mifflin County woman is charged with murder and abuse of a corpse after a newborn baby girl was found dead in a field.  State Police arrested 20-year-old Jordyn Kauffman, of McVeytown, this week.  According to court documents, a Lewistown Geisinger Hospital nurse called police on May 15th after she was notified about the baby who was found in a garbage bag.   An investigation revealed Kauffman had missed several doctor’s appointments before telling hospital staff that she didn’t want the baby.
