A report by the Altoona Mirror suggests that police arrested David Dickman and his wife Melissa for allegedly stealing $500,000 from a woman that they were supposed to be taking care of. The lengthy report says that the Dickman’s allegedly wrote out checks to one another, and many for “cash” to the tune of $500,000 over the course of several years. Blair, Freedom and Allegheny Twp police all worked on the investigation. The Dickman’s became power of attorney for the woman after her husband passed away in 2015. The couple had recorded assets of more than $600,000. An audit showed that a primary account containing that money was closed with a zero balance in just 3 years time. The Dickman’s are charged with theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking and endangering the welfare of an elderly care dependent person.
