Governor Josh Shapiro’s new energy plan would place new solar projects on Pennsylvania’s old mine lands. The governor says the solar panel grids could take the pressure off using farmland and forests for new development and help restore local economies while doing so. A massive project to build a solar farm on reclaimed mine land in Clearfield County is already underway. It’s funded through private investment and federal money.
