Governor Josh Shapiro and America250PA officially designated State College as the starting line for Pennsylvania’s multi-year celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday, announcing a star-studded free concert at the Bryce Jordan Center on May 23. The event kicks off the “Commonwealth Concert Series,” a five-city statewide tour designed to showcase Pennsylvania’s pivotal role in American history through music and community. The inaugural show features a heavy-hitting country lineup, headlined by multi-platinum artist Cole Swindell and Pennsylvania’s own American Idol star Gabby Barrett. “America’s story started right here in our Commonwealth,” Governor Shapiro said, noting that his administration secured specific funding in the 2025-26 budget to ensure the high-profile events remain free to the public. “This series will bring together Pennsylvanians from all across the Commonwealth, giving them an opportunity to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.” The series is scheduled to run from Memorial Day weekend through the end of June. While all concerts are free of charge, a ticket is required for entry. Details on how to reserve your free tickets will be released in the coming weeks.
