Tax Day is here. Tax returns must be postmarked or electronically filed by the end of the day to avoid a late-file penalty. If you’re not ready, you can file for a six-month filing extension, but tax experts caution that’s not an extension to pay the IRS if you owe. You must still pay the estimated tax owed by the April 15th deadline to avoid interest and late payment penalties.
