Primary Election In PA Yesterday-Voter Turnout Light

Attorney Jason Richey will be the GOP’s nominee for Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor.  Richey defeated former UPS executive John Ventre in last night’s primary.  He’ll be the running mate for State Treasurer Stacy Garrity, who ran unopposed in the Republican primary for governor.  They’ll challenge incumbent Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro and Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis this November.  Shapiro is a heavy favorite to win in November.  Elsewhere, Pennsylvania Democrats, backed by Shapiro won primaries yesterday, setting up high-stakes November match-ups aimed at flipping four Republican-held U.S. House seats to win a congressional majority.  Speaking to a primary crowd last night, Shapiro, a potential 2028 presidential contender, leveraged his endorsement to secure nominations for candidates Janelle Stelson, Bob Harvie, and Bob Brooks, while calling for accountability for president Trump and congressional Republicans.  As for voter turnout, in Blair County, it was reportedly very light, with only 19% of the county’s registered voters casting ballots.
