According to the Altoona Mirror, the board reported that the district could face a deficit in its new budget of some $3.2 million. Potential cuts of some positions, possibly renewing insurance at lower rates and adjusting Career and Technology tuition are a few of the measures being considered. Other department budget cutting measures could reduce the deficit, along with a proposed tax increase. The report states that if the reductions talked about are approved and the tax hike gets approval, the deficit could be reduced to just over $719,000. The next board meeting in Hollidaysburg is scheduled for next Wednesday.
