Retired Priest Accused Of Sexual Abuse

Retired Catholic priest, and former Pennsylvania State Police chaplain, 84-year-old Robert Byrnes, faces felony charges for alleged sexual abuse, according to the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office.  Byrnes is accused of assaulting two people while serving as a chaplain through 2018 ,and residing at the Christ Our Shepherd Center in Greensburg.  The charges include aggravated indecent assault, following allegations that he assaulted a worker in the center’s kitchen in 2014.   Byrnes was released on $250,000 unsecured bail.  He is to face a preliminary hearing on June 1^st.
